Massage Therapy at Elevate Chiropractic
Though some view massage as an indulgent spa treatment, it has tremendous therapeutic benefits. Massage is the manipulation of soft tissues and muscles to help promote relaxation, decrease pain, and improve healing from injuries.
Just like chiropractic care, massage helps to manage pain and recovery from all kinds of injuries. Massage also can help to improve posture. Our Registered Massage Therapist Bobbi-Jo Corbett provides outstanding massage therapy to our clients.
Looking at the Big Picture
While many practices offer massage, the difference at Elevate Chiropractic is that Bobbi-Jo focuses on the bigger picture. “Instead of looking at symptoms, I try to identify the root of what’s going on. Massage isn’t only about remedying symptoms but finding the root of the problem and eliminating it, so it’s not a recurring issue,” she said.
A Complement to Chiropractic Care
Massage helps improve how well chiropractic adjustments hold and how smoothly they go. If someone is tight in their muscles, they will be challenging to adjust or the adjustment won’t hold very well because the muscles are so tight they are going to pull the bones back to where they were before. Massage helps to relax the body so that chiropractic is more effective.
Styles of Massage
The following types of massage are available at Elevate Chiropractic.
- Deep tissue
- Relaxation
- Swedish
- Joint mobilization
- Scar treatment
- TMJ (for jaw pain)
- Pregnancy massage
Cupping Therapy
This type of treatment uses small plastic cups that employ a vacuum to pull the skin and muscles up into the cup. This action separates the layers of the muscle and connective tissue in the skin allowing some separation. Cupping causes more relaxation in the connective tissue which is harder to adjust using the hands.
Paperwork and Rates
Before your massage, we will have you complete the following forms: health history, intake, privacy policy and cancellation policy. You also need to complete a covid-19 screening form prior to each appointment.
Our rates for massage are as follows:
- 30-minute – $65
- 45-minute – $85
- 60-minute – $105
- 90-minute – $140
- All rates include HST.
If it’s your first time getting a massage at our practice, Bobbi-Jo prefers to schedule a 1-hour session, which includes a 10-15 minute assessment. During this initial appointment, she will ask several questions to determine the best approach.
Though an hour-long session is standard, if you just have one specific area that’s bothering you (e.g., your shoulder), you can book a shorter session.
Looking for a comprehensive, full-body massage? If yes, then we recommend that you book a 90-minute session.
