Immune System Boosting Tricks

woman laying under blankets on a couch, sickAs the weather starts to get colder, cold and flu season comes full steam ahead. This year, the cold virus seems to come with a lot of mucous and be long-lasting. Colds typically last about 10 days. I think it is important to make sure you combat the cold as quickly and effectively as possible. I typically prescribe patients my top three immune-boosting tricks:

  1. Contrast Showers: This is an excellent way to quickly boost your immune system, regulate digestion, and give you more energy throughout the day. To do a proper contrast shower you have to do three cycles of 2 mins hot to every 30 seconds cold. The bigger the contrast between hot and cold the more effective the treatment will be. Remember you have to end on cold!
  2. Medi Honey and a garlic clove: Medi Honey has the active enzymes still present which makes this an excellent immune booster. Garlic is a great antimicrobial, and overall health tonic. Together this combo is unbeatable. Take one raw clove of garlic and chop it up. Take about ½ tsp of Medi Honey and put the chopped up garlic clove on top. Eat that spoonful twice a day for 5 days. This is guaranteed to shorten your cold.
  3. Dr. Liz’s Immunity Tea: This a delicious tasting tea that packs a wonderful immune-boosting punch. You mix Traditional Medicinal’s Echinacea Plus tea, Ginger tea (or chopped ginger) and dried rosehips, add boiling water and let it simmer for 10 mins covered. Add St. Francis Deep Immune tincture, Medi honey, and a dash of cayenne. Sip on this tea 2 to 3 times a day and your cold is going to be over within a few days.

I recommend doing all three together to ensure your cold is not going to last 10 days. It is always important to remember to drink lots of water and get rest if you find yourself sick. Remember to wash your hands and cough or sneeze into your elbow to decrease the spread. If you are not suffering from a cold and want to prevent one from forming, try daily contrast showers. I promise you, the more contrast showers you do, the better they get.
